ABOUT THE BAKER
Hi, I’m Rasheda. I am a self-taught Cake Designer and Baker based in South East London (Belvedere). I began cake artistry and baking as a hobby, whilst studying my Masters degree in Human Rights. I am a lawyer who currently undertakes corporate governance work for charities, and I wanted a creative outlet which would give me a break from reviewing contracts!
I always enjoyed baking as a child, however I never followed a recipe until I received my first cake recipe book as a gift from my manager at my then corporate governance job 7 years ago. It was a Mary Berry recipe book (of course)! I eagerly started trying out the recipes for cakes, cupcakes, cheesecakes and brownies and I was hooked! Soon, I was baking cakes for friends and family, and then friends of friends started contacting me asking me “how much do you charge”? At this stage I had not even started decorating cakes!
I decided in 2014 to start decorating cakes as I wanted my cakes to look as good as they tasted. As I mentioned above, I am entirely self-taught, and believe I have come a long way in a very short space of time. As you will see from my gallery, I make a variety of baked goods such as cakes, cupcakes, decorated cookies, cake pops, macrons and brownies. I have become known for my attention to detail, creativity, and most importantly, my delicious bakes.
Rasheda’s Cakery is a part time, home based business. My kitchen is fully registered and insured with a food hygiene certification. I still work in the field of corporate governance, however I am currently on Maternity Leave as I have recently given birth to my first child. Due to the part time nature of my business (and becoming a new mum), I take a limited amount of orders each week. By taking a limited amount of orders I am able to give each order the attention it deserves. As such, I would appreciate it if you book well in advance to avoid disappointment.
All of my cakes are baked from scratch using the finest ingredients and each cake is personalised to my customers’ requirements.
